Parents Code of Conduct

  • Keep the club up to date on all changes of contact information e.g. new contact details etc.

  • Ensure gymnasts dress appropriately – well fitting buckle/clasp/zip free clothing e.g. t-shirt/ leggings or leotard/shorts, bare feet or gym slippers, long hair tied back, no jewellery

  • Take responsibility for their gymnast until the Head Coach invites the class into the gym and from the point the class is dismissed.

  • Parents/carers are expected to collect children on time from inside the facility with exceptions if indicated on their record sheet. If you are running late please contact the head coach

  • Inform the Head Coach if someone else is collecting their gymnast or they are walking home and this has not been previously agreed.

  • Sign your child in and out of the gym. Do not leave without letting a coach know you have collected your child.

  • Leave the gymnasium during class time except as pre-arranged with the Head Coach in exceptional circumstances e.g. gymnast’s first class.

  • Encourage gymnasts to learn their Code of Conduct and behave responsibly.

  • Set examples for good behaviour e.g. support participation, applaud effort over ability, applaud all performances, treat everyone with respect and always use appropriate language.

  • Never punish, ridicule or yell at a child for poor performance or making mistakes

  • Help your child to recognise good performance and not just results. Applaud good routines by members of all clubs

  • Encourage children to participate if they are interested. If they are not, don’t force them.

  • Keep their gymnast away from gymnastics classes when they are ill or injured and report to the Head Coach any illness or injury that a gymnast has suffered between classes if it is likely to affect participation.

  • Seek permission from the Head Coach if wanting to film or take photographic images of their gymnast in class

  • Accept decisions of all officials as being fair and made to the best of their ability. Do not raise issues of disagreement publicly.

  • Report to the Head Coach/Committee members any concerns relating to Broxburn Gymnastics classes ASAP so that they can be dealt with swiftly and effectively.

  • Encourage and guide performers to accept responsibility for their own performance and behaviour

  • Ensure your child has plenty to drink – water/diluting juice. No fizzy drinks.
